⇒ One month after surgery: At this point, it's normal to still have some swelling, but it will gradually decrease. Laser treatment will help make the scars less visible. The internal stitches will have completely dissolved, and you can resume gentle activities, such as exercises that don't involve your pectoral muscles. You can also begin sleeping on your stomach approximately six weeks after surgery.
⇒ After one month: resume gentle and progressive cardio —running, swimming, or cycling, gradually increasing the intensity—and isometric exercises that don't involve the chest muscles . Only powerful isometric chest exercises should be postponed for six months ; subfascial exercises can be performed after one month.
⇒ 12 months later: In this review, which will be carried out one year after the surgery, a high-resolution ultrasound is performed to evaluate the evolution of the tissues and the healing.
Photos will be taken for a before and after comparison, and you will be discharged until your next annual ultrasound.

What is “TIVA” anesthesia?
“TIVA” (Total Intravenous Anesthesia) is a high-quality anesthesia. Its innovative technique avoids the use of anesthetic gases and the well-known headache, vomiting, nausea and discomfort that commonly used gases usually cause.
This is a type of anesthesia whose technique is much more demanding than common anesthesia with gases, since it introduces many variables such as: weight, age, height, sex, degree of hepatorenal insufficiency and the interferences of potentiation, synergy or antagonism of the drugs.
The patient is monitored throughout the intervention with the so-called BIS (Bi Spectral Index) that measures brain activity constantly.

What does the scar look like after a breast reduction?
At Dr. Sordo's clinic, we treat scars to minimize their appearance, regardless of the incision site. Once your breast reduction surgery is complete, and while you are still under general anesthesia, we will apply our laser scar treatment. It is a 1210 nm surgical laser applied to the closed incision. In a randomized, double-blind trial of breast reduction, in which one breast was treated and the other served as a control, the treated scar was flatter and less rough after one year. It doesn't make the scar disappear; the goal is to make it as inconspicuous as possible.
When can I exercise after breast reduction?
The first month involves no exercise, but that doesn't mean being inactive: after 24 hours, you can raise your arms overhead and draw your shoulder blades together for 30 seconds, once an hour, and walk for 30 minutes a day. From day 7, the weight limit is increased by 1 kg, and movement is unrestricted: you can move your arms whenever you want, without repeating the exercise every hour. After a month , you resume gentle, progressive cardio—running, swimming, cycling—and isometric exercises that don't involve the chest muscles. Only heavy isometric chest exercises are postponed for six months.
Does the nipple lose sensitivity?
It may be disrupted during the first few weeks, but in most cases it recovers. I use the superomedial pedicle precisely because of its vascular security and because it maintains the supply to the areola-nipple complex.
Is it possible to breastfeed afterwards?
The technique preserves the pedicle and with it a good part of the gland, so breastfeeding is still possible in many patients, but it is not something that can be guaranteed beforehand in any reduction.
