What does the 3D simulation of breast augmentation with Crisalix consist of?
4D simulation in the consultation: the result on your own body, before you have surgery.
The Crisalix 3D simulation allows the patient to visualize on screen how her breasts would look after surgery, trying out different sizes, shapes and implant profiles on her own photographs.
With the latest versions of the software, we also send the patient a link so that she can review her simulation again at her leisure from home, on her mobile phone or computer, with very good image quality and without rushing, with the information from the previous consultation with Dr. Sordo.
Crisalix also has a specific module to simulate the result with the Preserve technique , and its catalog includes implants from the main commercial brands on the market, so that the patient can directly compare how each model and each technique would look on her before deciding.
The importance of simulations before an operation:
How we use 4D simulation in the consultation to choose size and shape.
At Dr. Sordo's clinic, we believe in the value of breast and rhinoplasty simulators . We are generally interested in anything that helps our patients make informed choices and feel comfortable and confident in their decision. For this reason, we incorporated them into our daily practice some time ago, considering them essential tools if you are evaluating breast augmentation or rhinoplasty in Madrid.
Patients often face the difficult decision of choosing which implant model ( anatomical or round ) they want and what size they would prefer. It's clearly not enough to simply tell the surgeon "a 90," as this measurement refers to the underbust measurement in centimeters plus 15 (known as French sizing). For example, if a patient's underbust measurement is 70 cm, her bra size would be 70 + 15 = 85. Therefore, her ideal bra size would be an 85.
We can't change your underbust measurement, but we can change your cup size . The cup size is calculated by subtracting your underbust measurement from your overbust measurement. For example: if your underbust measurement is 70 cm and your overbust measurement is 76 cm, then 76 - 70 = 6. Every 3 cm represents one cup size, so 6 cm would give you two cup sizes: you would have a B cup.
Most of our patients will have a C cup after the operation and will maintain their contour, although it is true that many women will change their contour size since the patterns of bra manufacturers increase cup and contour proportionally.
That said, it's obviously pointless to talk to the surgeon in terms like "you'll end up with a 95" and similar phrases. It's imprecise and doesn't provide any objective information. The patient needs to " see themselves in the future ." Furthermore, a B cup from one brand can be completely different from a B cup from another brand.
To avoid this problem, breast implants are measured in cubic centimeters, abbreviated as “cc” for volume. This way, a 350 cc implant will always be the same size and can be measured accurately.
Understanding breast implant profiles
In addition to choosing an implant size, we will also need to decide on the implant profile . This refers to the amount of external breast projection. For example, a high-profile implant will have more projection than a low-profile implant.
Most women are candidates for moderate-profile implants. However, depending on the shape of the chest and sternum, the plastic surgeon will assess whether high-profile implants are more suitable for greater projection or low-profile implants. Thanks to Crisalix 3D, the patient can see what the result of her surgery would look like with implants of different profiles.
With Crisalix 3D, the patient can see the simulation in the consultation room and also receive a link to view it at her leisure from home, helping her to make a decision and calmly consider the options discussed during the previous consultation with Dr. Sordo.
At Dr. Sordo's plastic surgery clinic in Madrid , we help patients choose the implants best suited to their anatomy. To do this, we not only use Crisalix 3D , but we also show patients real breast augmentation cases performed at our clinic. We look for patients with similar anatomy to the person consulting us.

How do breast augmentation simulators work?
Breast augmentation simulators allow you to “try on” various sizes, shapes, and profiles of breast implants to help visualize what the final results of breast augmentation will look like on the patient’s body.
To perform the simulations, the body is first scanned and photographs are taken from different angles. Once all the patient's parameters have been entered into the program, the results that would be obtained by choosing the different types, sizes, and brands of implants available in the Crisalix catalog can be viewed on screen, including the specific simulation of the Preserve technique.
Real case vs simulation
We analyzed the real results of a breast augmentation operation by comparing them with those obtained using the Crisalix 3D simulator.
We have digitalized the images of a patient who has already undergone surgery and these are the results of the simulation:
- Before image of the patient with the digitalized: the digitalization is correct and allows us to see the patient perfectly in 2D.

- Simulation of result ->Knowing that we operated on our patient using 245cc, anatomical Mentor implants, we simulate the result and obtain this result.

- Comparison: We can compare the real case with the simulation and see what happens.

More patients: simulation alongside the actual outcome
These are two more augmentations using the PRESERVÉ technique, performed at the clinic. In each image, the simulation the patient saw during the consultation is shown above, and the actual result is shown below.

What's chosen in the simulation—the volume, projection, and overall shape—is what the final result resembles. The details depend on each individual body (the skin, the tissue covering the implant, any pre-existing asymmetry), and these are discussed during the consultation.
Is it realistic?
The simulation with Crisalix 3D is quite consistent and realistic, especially in the frontal view, which best reflects the final volume. In the profile view and in the transition to the upper pole of the breast, it is somewhat less accurate, and the detail of the areola is not recreated with complete naturalness.
Even so, it is a fundamental tool in our daily practice: it allows us to accurately calculate the necessary volume in cases of breast asymmetry , and allows the patient to directly compare how a round implant would look versus an anatomical one, or how the result would look with the Preserve technique, before making a decision.
Overall, the simulator offers a fairly accurate idea of the outcome—although not perfect—and is very helpful both in managing the patient's expectations and in supporting the final decision along with the surgeon's judgment.
The three augmentation options we offer
The technique isn't chosen from a catalog: it depends on the desired volume, the amount of tissue available to cover the implant, and whether you already have implants. During your initial consultation, we'll determine which technique is right for you.
24h Laser Recovery
Dr. Gustavo Sordo's own protocol. Under general anesthesia, the implant is placed behind the muscle (dual plane) through an incision in the inframammary fold; the fold is reinforced from the inside ( internal bra ) and the scar is treated with UrgoTouch laser at the end.
For whom: any volume, including above 330 cc, with round or anatomical implant, and when there is little tissue to cover the implant.
Recovery: no drains or bandages; arms rise within 24 hours.
Watch 24h RecoveryI PRESERVED (Motivates)
The technique used by Dr. Alejandro Mendieta. With local anesthesia and sedation, without general anesthesia, the Motiva implant is placed in the prepectoral plane (subfascial), in front of the pectoral muscle, without touching it.
For whom: up to 330 cc and with enough tissue to cover the implant (a pinch of at least 1,5-2 cm).
Recovery: the arms rise the same day, a few hours after leaving the operating room.
See PRESERVEDSecondary breast surgery
To replace or revise existing implants: rupture, capsular contracture, an unsatisfactory size, a rotated anatomical implant, or breasts that have sagged in front of the implant. The procedure is performed by Dr. Sordo and Dr. Mendieta.
What is done: it is decided by the ultrasound of your implants in consultation: from a simple replacement to capsulectomy, breast lift or polyurethane implants.
Recovery: the arms are raised after 24 hours; if the surgery involves drains, they are removed after that time.

Conclusion
In general, the simulation closely resembles the actual result, although it's not identical. Even so, between choosing "blindly" and choosing with the support of Crisalix 3D, Bodylogic (breast sizers worn under the bra during the consultation), previous cases, and the surgeon's advice, there's no comparison when it comes to getting an accurate idea of how breast augmentation will look.
All of these tools are used routinely and are available to all of our patients.
At Dr. Sordo's clinic, we believe that using simulators is essential for choosing the right breast implant . However, we also value the opinion of the plastic, aesthetic, and reconstructive surgeon, who helps determine the size, shape, and profile of the breast implant based on each patient's needs and goals.
