A 40-year-old woman wanted to correct the protruding ears. The goal was to make them proportionate to the rest of her face.

The technique, step by step
First, the flap. Through the incision behind the ear, a dermal flap is prepared: a bikini-shaped strip of epidermis is removed, leaving the dermis, which will later be used to cover the stitches.
Next, the antihelix. Mustardé sutures are used to fold the cartilage, revealing the missing relief. The suture is permanent and braided (Ethibond), because ear recurrence is common with absorbable sutures.
Finally, the concha. The Furnas sutures join the concha to the mastoid process and bring the ear closer to the head in its central part. It closes with the dermis over the sutures, and the scar remains in the groove behind it.
