Lipofilling in a 43-year-old man
Case fact sheet
- Patient: 43 year old woman
- Technique: Lipofilling
- Entry: 8 hours after the operation
- Anesthesia: Local with sedation
- Duration: 2 hours long.

Pathology: This patient, an athlete, has begun to experience premature aging in the area of the corners of the mouth and nasolabial folds, resulting in unsightly wrinkles that significantly age the patient. The images show how the fat compartment adjacent to the nasolabial fold has been emptied and how the atrophy of facial fat leads to premature aging and a skeletal appearance.
Procedure: We performed a lipotransfer or lipofilling using the Coleman technique, filling in the fat the patient had previously lost, centimeter by centimeter. This harmonized the face, leaving it fuller and therefore more youthful, correcting the fat atrophy that so marked the patient's face.

Here, the fat has been used for filling. Some of it is always reabsorbed, which is why it's calculated as an extra amount. This is lipofilling.
